Women’s Participation in Land Governance
Communication Silnorf
July 14, 2026

“The law recognizes that women must not only benefit from land but also help govern it. The Customary Land Rights Act, 2022 requires that women have equal opportunities to serve on Community Land Committees and provides that at least thirty percent (30%) of committee members shall be women (Section 8). Women’s voices must therefore be present wherever decisions about customary land are made, ensuring that governance is inclusive, representative, and accountable.” Marian Kamara Admin & Human Resource Manager SiLNoRF
