SiLNoRF Strengthens Staff Capacity in Project Management, MEAL, and Financial Accountability

The Sierra Leone Network on the Right to Food (SiLNoRF), in collaboration with WellFound, has successfully conducted a comprehensive capacity-building training for its project staff, reinforcing institutional commitment to effective programme delivery, accountability, and safeguarding.
The training focused on key thematic areas including project management, monitoring and documentation, safeguarding, and financial management critical components for ensuring quality implementation and measurable impact across SiLNoRF’s interventions.
Facilitating the project management sessions, Head of Programs, Lansana Hassan Sowa, provided practical guidance on planning, coordination, and execution of projects. His sessions emphasized strategic alignment, efficiency, and results-oriented implementation.
The training was further strengthened by the participation of Michael Conteh from Welthungerhilfe (WHH), who led a session on Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL). His presentation enhanced participants’ understanding of results-based programming and the importance of tracking impact, learning, and accountability in development work.
SiLNoRF’s internal expertise was also prominently featured, with Research Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, Alhaji Amadu Bunduka, alongside the MEAL team, delivering additional sessions on MEAL. Their contributions reinforced institutional knowledge and ensured that participants gained context-specific insights into monitoring and evaluation practices.
On financial management, Finance Officer Jamil M. Kamara facilitated a session focused on financial reporting, accountability, and integrity. He highlighted the critical role of sound financial systems in strengthening transparency, maintaining donor confidence, and ensuring sustainable programme implementation.
Safeguarding principles were integrated throughout the training, emphasizing the responsibility of staff to uphold ethical standards and protect the rights and dignity of beneficiaries.
This capacity-building initiative reflects SiLNoRF’s strategic focus on strengthening human resources and institutional systems to enhance performance, accountability, and impact. By investing in staff development, the organization continues to position itself to deliver high-quality, transparent, and results-driven programmes in the food security and rights sector in Sierra Leone.
